Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Boys and girls celebrating their bar or bat mitzvah join the Jewish People and continue the legacy of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs. Ma'arat HaMachpela, the first place purchased by our forefathers in Eretz Yisrael, the place where the Patriarchs and Matriarchs lived and the place where they were buried, is the ideal location for celebrating one’s undertaking the yoke of mitzvoth. Hebron, which links between worlds and peoples, links childhood and adulthood as well.
The bar or bat mitzvah can be celebrated in Ma'arat HaMachpela in a wide variety of way, and at all hours of the day and evening, with one’s class or family. Refreshments or a meal can be included. Midreshet Hebron, the local field school, offers a special program, in which bar and bat mitzvah celebrants give a tour of Ma'arat HaMachpela to their family and guests. They prepare for the tour under the instruction and accompaniment of a guide. The preparation focuses on the Patriarchs or the Matriarchs and their special traits, as well as on the stories and history of Ma'arat HaMachpela.
