Chayei Sarah

 Shabbat Chayei Sarah is a special time in Ma'arat HaMachpela. On this Sabbath the story of the acquisition of the Ma'ara is read in the Torah, and in the Ma'ara that story takes on eternal meaning. That weekend, thousands come to Hebron from all over Israel and from the Diaspora as well. Together, all merit a unique experience of connecting to Abraham’s acquisition of the Ma'ara. The guests are accommodated everywhere, in homes, guest houses, schools, tents, or even in sleeping bags…Whoever is willing to compromise a bit on his conditions as a guest is guaranteed a special experience.
