Making a Siddur Party in Ma'arat HaMachpela
According to tradition, the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob ordained the three daily prayers: Shacharit, Mincha and Ma’ariv. Ma'arat HaMachpela, where the Patriarchs are buried, is the most appropriate place for awarding a siddur to a child who is starting out on life’s path as a Jewish worshipper continuing the legacy of the Patriarchs. An encounter with the siddur, in the Field of Machpela, where our ancestors ordained the prayers, is a unique and an unforgettable experience. The siddur party includes a tour of Ma'arat HaMachpela, and simultaneously an encounter with “the Patriarchs and Matriarchs” [actors who your group will come across at various points during the tour], and other figures who lived and were active in Hebron: King David, Rabbi Chizkiyahu Medini [the S’dei Chemed], and others. At the end of the tour, the pupils will receive their siddur and will pray in Ma'arat HaMachpela.
The siddur ceremony can also take place in the plaza outside the Ma'ara.

Biblical Personalities Who Were in Hebron
A tour that includes encounters with figures [actors] who began their way in Hebron.

Hebron constitutes the starting point and the basis for many events in the Bible and in Jewish history. It began with Adam and Eve, who were banished from Eden and according to tradition arrived at Hebron (the closest point to Eden). It continues with Abraham, who paid a high price to make the first Jewish purchase in the Land, for himself and his descendants. It includes Otniel ben Knaz, the first Judge, who operated in Hebron, King David, who began his rule in Hebron, and others.
In our tour we will pass through the various periods in Hebron and we will encounter the various personalities who operated there. We will hear stories from them and learn ideas and historical lesson.
For details, call Midreshet Hebron at 02-996131 or Mr. Simcha Hochbaum at 052-4317257.
